4-Camera Security System Installed in Brampton

By Ilan Nahum , Blaze Alarms, installing cameras in Toronto since 1990  |  Updated October 2026  |  3 min read

A Brampton homeowner wanted to see who comes to her doors, day and night, without paying a monthly fee for it. We installed a 4-camera Luminys 5MP Starlight system in about five hours, and she was watching her cameras on her phone before we left.

What the customer wanted

Cathy wanted clear video of the places someone could come onto her property, including the garage and the doors. She also wanted a system she owns outright, with no monthly subscription and no cameras that drop off when the Wi-Fi does.

Planning the camera spots together

Before drilling anything, we walked the property with her and chose each camera position together. Every camera had a clear job, like the one above the garage door. We mounted them high enough to stay out of reach, and angled them to see faces, not just the tops of heads.

The system we installed

  • 4 Luminys 5MP Starlight dome cameras. Starlight cameras record in colour at night using the porch light or street light, where ordinary cameras switch to black and white.
  • A 4-channel recorder (NVR) with a 2TB hard drive, so every recording stays in her home, not in the cloud.
  • Hard-wired cameras. One cable carries both power and video to each camera, with no batteries to change and no Wi-Fi to drop out.
  • Motion alerts on her phone, through the free LumiViewer app.

This is our 4-camera Starlight system, the right size for most townhouses, semis and smaller detached homes.

Installed in one visit

The whole job took about five hours: mounting the four cameras, running and hiding the cable, setting up the recorder, and fine-tuning each camera’s angle and motion settings. Most 4-camera homes are finished in a single day like this one.

Set up on her phone before we left

The last step of every job is the one customers remember: we installed the app on her phone, connected it to the system and showed her how to watch live video, play back a recording and get alerts. She doesn’t need to call anyone to see her own cameras. More about our viewing apps.

In her words

★★★★★

“Ilan was very professional. He consulted with me on the best placement for the 4 cameras. He worked quickly and efficiently. He showed me how to access the video on my phone. The cameras are quite sensitive. I feel much safer now.”
